Laguna Beach Engagement Session | Kimberley + Kyle

There’s something undeniably special about photographing a couple in a place that already holds deep meaning for them. For Kimberley and Kyle, Laguna Beach isn’t just another pretty stretch of coastline—it’s a backdrop woven into Kyle’s childhood, and now, the beginning of their future together.

Their engagement session felt effortless in the best way. We wandered along the rocky cliffs and golden sand, the ocean breeze tousling Kimberley’s hair while Kyle smiled like someone who was exactly where he was meant to be. Shooting here brought out something honest and relaxed in both of them, as if they were letting me in on a quiet memory.

I documented the afternoon using a mix of digital and 35mm film, letting the light and textures lead the way. There’s a softness to film that always hits different—the grain, the unexpected little flares, the way it captures movement and mood in a way that feels timeless. Paired with crisp digital frames, it gave us a perfect mix of polished and poetic.

As the sun dipped low and the tide started to creep in, Kyle pointed out a little cove he used to visit. Kimberley took his hand, and in that moment, the past and future felt beautifully connected.
